As economies prosper, stock markets are often considered indicators of success. With Arab stock markets from Saudi Arabia to Qatar and Kuwait to the UAE witnessing robust growth, the economic outlook for Middle Eastern countries is bright. And as MENA markets prove resilient to political instability, listed companies are shaping the landscape of homegrown success.
Under this theme, Forbes Middle East honed in on the publically listed enterprises buoying Arab markets and presented its latest ranking of the Top 500 Companies in the Arab World. To celebrate the ranking, a gala dinner and award ceremony were held at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Godolphin Ballroom in Dubai on the 17th June, 2014, in partnership with The Investor For Securities.
Founded in Saudi Arabia in 2007 as an investment bank, The Investor For Securities is recognized not only for its financial products, but for employing cutting edge talent and technology. Mohammed El Masri, Corporate Finance Officer at the innovative Saudi company, counted amongst the evening’s special guests, alongside guest of honor, Rob Waller, US Consul General to Dubai.
Amongst the awardees of the evening, 30 companies, including FGB, Dubai Islamic Bank, du, Saudi Investment Bank, Kuwait Projects Company, Aramex and Americana Group were recognized for their outstanding contribution to business in the region.
Following the ceremony, Osman Sultan, CEO of du; and Hussein Hachem, CEO of Aramex; took to the stage to witness the revealing of their respective companies as the cover stories for last month’s coveted issue of Forbes Middle East.
Commenting on the special occasion, Hayssam El Masri, Advisor to the Board of Directors at The Investor for Securities said: “As The Investor For Securities continues to grow and make its own impact on the regional and international business landscape, it is a great pleasure to be a part of this evening’s event. Speaking after the event, Khuloud Al-Omian, Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Middle East, said: “These companies represent all that is great about the Arab world: determination, innovation and adaption. The enterprises here tonight are at the fore of the region’s prospering business landscape, and we are seeing them excel, as they bring money, innovation and talent into the growing Middle Eastern economy.”
