Many established and potential entrepreneurs are constantly told to “think outside the box” when it comes to innovating and offering something of value. However, what does this phrase really mean when it comes to growing and scaling your business?

If you are an entrepreneur or startup, you need to be able to offer something innovative that differentiates your brand from your competitors.

Selling something unique and having a creative mindset is not always easy, but there are ways that you can tap into your inner creativity to innovate, inspire growth and accelerate your brand:

Be positive

You won’t be able to think of innovative or creative mechanisms and strategies if you have a negative mindset. Negativity can hinder your chances of focusing on inventing products and services that exceed expectations of customers.

Those who think with a positive mindset are more likely to explore different alternatives and expect a good outcome. Positive thinking also makes you happier all round, which can in turn increase your productivity levels and ensure that your concentration is increased and motivation stays high.

Change your perspective

It is often the case that we view things through a narrow lens, but what happens when we widen our lens? Not only will we be able to look at things from a different point of view, but we will be able to find more innovative ideas.

You can do this through networking with different people, sharing views and exchanging ideas with one another so that you have a wide range of perspectives to consider and work with.

Brainstorm

Some of the best ideas start out on paper which is why it is best to note down all your ideas in a brainstorming session. You may want to do this independently or in a team setting. Gathering ideas, noting them down and creating mind maps can really help you to see the bigger picture about what you want to achieve from your company and how your ideas could transform into something more innovative.

There are many online tools that help you to brainstorm or you may want to implement the old classic “pen to paper” method, which is a great way of collating all your ideas in one place.

Network

Attend a networking event where you can meet people from all walks of life. This can help you broaden your conversation and ideas. They often say that “two heads are better than one” and this phrase rings true when trying to think of non-conforming ideas.

Networking can give you the opportunity to meet people from different industries and has scope for collaborations that can leave room for discovering an “out of the box” product or service that has never been done before.

Travel

Believe it or not, travelling to other countries, discovering new cultures and meeting new people can help boost creativity. Whether you travel for leisure or business, getting out and about and learning about the people around you can have a positive affect in creating better understanding and thinking of ideas for new markets.
