Croatia’s national football team broke a record when it qualified for its first World Cup Final, by defeating England 2-1 in a dramatic extra time.
Although the three Lions took a lead in the fifth minute with Kieran Trippier’s goal, the Croatian team came back to equalize the scores in the 68th minute. A country with a population of just four million and ranked 20th in FIFA rankings, Croatia is the first team to avoid defeat after trailing in three knockout matches at a single World Cup.
On Sunday, Croatia will face France in the World Cup final while England which will play with Belgium to determine the third place on Saturday.
Croatian team had previously come third in the 1998 World Cup, which is the same year when France won their first world cup.
France which reached the world cup final for the third time in its history has more chances to win the tournament in Russia, especially after all other big teams were knocked out including Argentina, Uruguay and, Belgium. But Croatia can surprise by continuing their winning streak.
