Billionaire and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey has announced an American wellness arena tour to promote health and wellbeing, in partnership with Weight Watchers (WW) Reimagined.
After running her hit talk show for 25 years, the entrepreneur transitioned it into a media business empire. One of America’s Self-Made Women, as recognized by Forbes, Winfrey will kick-start the ‘Oprah’s 2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus’ tour on January 4 in the new year in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The "Oprah effect" has spread to Weight Watchers: she currently holds an 8% stake in the company and acts as a brand ambassador. In conjunction with WW, the media mogul will offer a full day’s worth of wellness conversations during a nine-city tour across the US, including stops in Los Angeles, New York, Minnesota, Dallas, Atlanta, San Francisco, and North Carolina.
The program aims to help attendees develop their 2020 action plan and be better informed in the latest wellness research. On every tour stop, Winfrey will feature a celebrity guest in a one-on-one interview. Live on stage, Oprah will reveal the highs and lows of her own wellness journey and present guests will a specially curated WW box lunch. Over $1 million from the tour proceeds will benefit WW Good, a philanthropic area of the organization to help bring fresh and healthy food to underserved communities.
“As I travel the country, my hope for this experience is to motivate others to let 2020 be the year of transformation and triumph — beginning first and foremost with what makes us well. This is the year to move forward, let’s make it happen in 2020”, shares the former TV-show host. Although this is her first national tours in five years, Winfrey has previously successfully held speaking tours such as the ‘Oprah’s The Life You Want Weekend’, 2014.
