A school fee report published this month by education site, Edarabia, has revealed that schools in old Dubai are significantly cheaper than schools in the more recently developed parts of the emirate.

Deira, Al Qusais/Muhaisnah and Al Karama offer the lowest school fees in Dubai, averaging $3,469, $4,265 and $4,331 per year.

Newer areas in Dubai like the Springs/Meadows/Greens, Jumeirah Village Circle and Arabian Ranches are among the most expensive, with fees averaging $15,915, $16,052 and $16,160 respectively. Nad Al Sheba is the most expensive area for schooling in the emirate, with fees averaging $17,464.

The affordability of schools remains a recurring concern for parents in the UAE. But a freeze on school fees by the government as well as the opening of 13 new schools in the city has given more options to parents to choose from.

Dubai is home to 194 schools and 281,432 students. Al Qusais/Muhaisnah has the highest number of schools in any area, with 33 schools, followed my Mirdif/Al Rashidiya with 27.

Below is a summary of the average annual tuition for schools in different Dubai areas:
