Within eight weeks, UAE-based airline Emirates processed close to 650,000 refund requests and returned over AED 1.9 billion, or $517 million, to its booked customers. In April, the company announced it would fast-track its refund capabilities and committed to clear its backlog by August. At the time, its refund requests stood at nearly half a million.
