Master developer Eagle Hills Sharjah—known for residential, hospitality, retail and lifestyle communities—has appointed East Coast Contracting and Trading as the new contractor for the $44 million Kalba Waterfront project.
Scheduled for a completion in the third quarter of 2019, Kalba Waterfront covers a gross floor area of 17,000 square meters and a gross leasing area of 11,200 square meters within the Kalba Eco-Tourism Project. Upon completion, Kalba Waterfront project is set to be a major shopping, dining and leisure destination in Sharjah—adding to the emirate’s modern retail facilities.
Eagle Hills’ entry into Sharjah—the cultural capital of the U.A.E.—is a result of a joint venture between the developer and Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq). Worth a total of $735 million, Kalba Waterfront project is the part of a trio of projects which also includes Maryam Island and Palace Al Khan.
“In line with our mission to drive economic growth across the U.A.E. and particularly in the northern emirates, we identified a need in Sharjah’s retail market for a modern facility that would provide entertainment, restaurants and fashion all under one roof”, said Low Ping, CEO of Eagle Hills. She further added, “We are pleased to be addressing this through Kalba Waterfront, a first-of-its-kind retail development for Sharjah.”
The Kalba Waterfront project will have as many as 86 retail outlets including dining options, fashion brands and supermarket chains. These facilities will also include a large indoor dining area, a children’s play area, family entertainment center and a park surrounding the lagoon.
With a slew of major projects in its pipeline, Sharjah is set for a facelift as it readies to welcome large mixed use communities and retail projects. Major developers such as Arada, Majid Al Futtaim and Emaar all have announced projects within the emirate.
