Revealed: The UAE’s Top 10 Most Recommended Brands

Produced by YouGov’s daily online brand tracking service BrandIndex and surveyed by current and former customers, the Advocacy Rankings revealed the top 10 most recommended brands by consumers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, based on data collected between November 1, 2018, and October 31, 2019.

Out of the 590 brands surveyed, these are the most recommended 2019 YouGov Brand Advocacy Rankings in the UAE:

  1. Emirates

For the second year in a row, the UAE’s flag carrier airline was named the most trusted brand by consumers. Situated in the world’s third busiest airport, which recorded a total of 89.1 million passengers last year, Emirates recently announced that it has inked an $8.8 billion deal to purchase 30 Boeing 787-9 aircraft and ordered 50 A350-900 XWB aircraft worth $16 billion.

  1. Emaar

Emaar had the second strongest brand advocacy among consumers in the UAE. During Q3 of 2019, the Dubai-based giant property developer recorded an increase of 20% in net profit of $362 million, compared to the same time last year. Emaar also announced the launch of a new master development on Dubai-Al Ain Road, titled The Valley. It’s ranked 20th in the world’s best-regarded companies in 2019, according to Forbes.

  1. Almarai

The Saudi Arabian dairy conglomerate is the third most trusted brand in the UAE and also made it on World’s Best Regarded Companies 2019 ranking by Forbes. Based in Saudi Arabia since its inception in 1977, Almarai’s market cap is $15.4 billion.

  1. iPhone

Technology brands experienced a flat year in the UAE, with iPhone remaining in fourth place.

  1. Emirate NBD

Of all the brands within the top 10 list, Emirates NBD had the greatest movement and climbed up four places to land fifth in the 2019 rankings. It was named the 19th best-regarded companies in the world in 2019, Forbes revealed.

  1. Carrefour

Carrefour re-entered the list and landed at sixth place after not making the cut last year. This comes after retail chain Majid Al Futtaim announced that the supermarket giant will stop giving out plastic bags to its customers by 2025, all in part of its plastic-free commitment.

  1. WhatsApp

The popular messaging app is the seventh most trusted and recommended brand in the UAE, landing higher than Google and Apple. Earlier this month, a senior official said that the country might lift the ban on voice calls soon.

  1. Singapore Airlines

Apart from Emirates, Singapore Airlines is the only foreign airline to debut on the 2019 rankings. Around 24,350 employees work for the airline. It was rated the top airline with the best cabin crew, Skytrax’s list revealed.

  1. Google

Internet search giant Google saw a decline and moved down three places to land as the ninth most trusted brand in the country.

  1. Apple

Among the top 10 brands, iPhone’s parent brand Apple had the largest decline, dropping from fifth place to land in the tenth spot.
