Billionaires Eric Schmidt, Xavier Niel and Rodolphe Saadé announced Friday they are creating a new nonprofit research lab for artificial intelligence that will be based in Paris and called Kyutai—the latest in Europe's efforts to catch up to Silicon Valley, in part by recruiting a former Silicon Valley executive to work with well-established European business leaders.
