In 2018, Queen Alia International Airport was awarded the highest level of the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program, Level 3+ Neutrality, making it the first carbon-neutral airport in the Middle East. The airport was able to save $1.5 million by reducing power consumption between 2014 and 2017. It also reduced CO2 emissions by 7.8% per passenger, from 3.6kg in 2014-2016 to 3.4kg in 2017.
