Mokhtar assumed his current role in 2022. In November 2024, Viatris partnered with Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population to launch a presidential initiative for mental health. As of April 2025, its campaign in partnership with the MENTL Platform had reached more than six million people. Mokhtar is also a founding member of the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council, and a member of the Egypt-U.S. Business Council and the U.S.-GCC Business Initiative. He was elected to be a board member of the American Chamber of Commerce Abu Dhabi for 2024-2026, and he is a member of the leaders’ advisory board of the Arab Hospitals Federation.
