Adel joined EGYPTAIR in 1988 and assumed his current position in February 2025, which he previously held from June 2018 to March 2020. The airline operated 71 passenger and cargo aircraft as of June 2025. In May 2025, EGYPTAIR and Visa entered into an exclusive partnership to offer technology solutions. In the same month, the airline signed a deal with lessor AerCap to extend the leases of its five Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Adel previously served on the IATA Chair Committee, the executive committees of the Arab Air Carriers Organization and the African Airlines Association, and the Star Alliance Chief Executive Board.
