It carried a total of 3.2 million passengers in 2024. In March 2025, the airline operated its inaugural flight from Muscat to Nairobi as part of its expansion into Africa. SalamAir was launched in 2017 as Oman’s low-cost carrier, and it operated a fleet of 13 Airbus A320/321 aircraft as of June 2025. Hamilton-Manns was previously president and CEO of Kazakhstan-based FlyArystan, and held roles at South African Airways and Virgin Australia.
