Between 2024 and August 2025, NMDC invested over $65.4 million in clean technologies and sustainable innovation, deploying over 100 artificial reef units, aiding in tidal mudflats regeneration. It also planted 40,000 mangrove trees in Saudi Arabia in 2024, with 30,000 more to be planted in 2025. In November 2024, NMDC Dredging & Marine deployed a solar-powered camp on Sir Baniyas Island, reducing CO₂ emissions by 475 tons per year. Zaghloul joined NMDC in 1998 and was appointed CEO in 2009.
