Al-Thani joined GWC’s board of directors in 2012 and assumed his current role in 2023. In April 2024, the company’s Biobin initiative processed nearly 100 tons of food waste, converting 40 tons into compost for community garden projects. In 2024, GWC recycled 162,294 cubic meters of treated wastewater at its Bu Sulba Park and cut water consumption by 6% year-over-year. The company also reduced its scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions by 3% and scope 2 emissions by 0.2% from 2023 levels.
