Al Mawlawi assumed his current role in October 2023, having first joined the hospital in 2016. Aspetar treats more than 1,000 athletes annually across its hospital and 43-clinic network, and has a research portfolio of over 1,500 publications in 346 scientific journals. It has established multiple Excellence Hubs, including the Sports Groin Pain Hub (2023), as well as Sports Cartilage and Sports Spine centers. Al Mawlawi was previously Chief Tournament Experience Officer and Deputy Director-General for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
