Al Baqali joined Alba in 1998 and became CEO in 2019. As of 2024, Alba produces over 1.62 million metric tons per annum. As of June 2025, Alba had over $7 billion in total assets and recorded over $2.2 billion in revenues from contracts and customers. In April 2025, Alba partnered with Crucial Solutions and Services to become one of the first aluminum smelters in the Middle East to adopt AI-powered analytics platform Seeq. Al Baqali is also the Chairman of the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), board member of the Gulf Aluminium Council, an advisory board member of The Conference Board – MENA Region, and Italy-Bahrain Business Council.
