Ismail assumed his current position in 2023, having previously served as CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Properties. In April 2026, Majid Al Futtaim and Alshaya Group partnered to open Primark at City Centre Mirdif, followed by flagship launches at Mall of the Emirates and City Centre Bahrain later in the year. In June 2026, it partnered with Egypt's MIDAR to develop a mixed-use project in New Cairo's MADA City, with a total development value of $3.1 billion. In FY2025, the group reported $9.8 billion in revenues and total assets of $19.3 billion. Ismail also serves as a board member of Egypt’s Bank NXT, among others.
