As of June 2026, Al Mutawa had been overseeing the continued expansion of Sharjah Sustainable City’s net-zero infrastructure, namely solar PV panels on villa and community buildings, a biogas plant converting organic waste to energy, the introduction of vertical farming, and 100% recycled wastewater for irrigation. Al Mutawa assumed his role in 2025, prior to which he had been CEO of Sharjah Sustainable City.
