QatarEnergy increased water recycling across its operations by 15% and expanded solar capacity by inaugurating two plants with a combined capacity of 875 MW in 2025. It also began construction of the Dukhan Solar Power Plant, which is expected to more than double its solar capacity to 2,000 MW by 2030. Together, the projects are expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by about 4.7 million tons annually. It also awarded a $1.3 billion EPC contract to Samsung C&T for a 4.1 MTPA carbon capture and sequestration project in Ras Laffan. Al-Kaabi was appointed CEO and president of QatarEnergy in 2014.
