Since establishment in 2016, Qatar Airways Group’s Project Management Office has delivered more than 90 fuel-saving projects, including aircraft weight-reduction and operational measures that helped avoid over 4.8 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions. Hamad International Airport has achieved zero waste to landfill across its passenger-terminal, cargo, catering and aircraft-maintenance operations. Qatar Airways was the first airline in the Middle East to join IATA’s SAF Registry and Turbulence Aware platform, which supports route optimization and reduced fuel use. Al-Khater was appointed group CEO in December 2025.
