Toma has worked at IBM since 1990 and moved into his current role in 2021. In December 2024, IBM opened a new office in Qatar to expand its operations and engage with ongoing digital infrastructure projects. The company also partnered with the Dubai Future Foundation to work on a sovereign cloud and AI innovation center in Dubai in February 2025, as part of supporting the objectives Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) and the Dubai Universal Blueprint for AI. Toma is a member of the International Petroleum Technology Conference and holds a board seat at the American Turkish Society.
