El Chiaty founded the Travco Group in 1979. The company has businesses in hotels and resorts, Nile cruises, international travel, transportation, aviation, real estate, engineering and construction, and security, as well as retail and merchandise. In June 2024, Travco’s hospitality division, Jaz Hotel Group, announced its expansion to Zanzibar with the addition of three new properties. In May 2025, the Travco Group announced a collaboration with Grand Odyssey Cruises to launch a seven-night Red Sea cruise. El Chiaty previously held board memberships with the Egyptian Hotels' Association, the Supreme Council for Tourism, and the supervisory board of TUI AG.
