Al Midfa has led SAA since 2014. In 2024, Sharjah Airport saw passenger numbers rise by 11.4% to over 17.1 million and flights increase by 9.5% to 107,760. It also expanded its network with seven new direct destinations and six new international airlines. Sharjah Airport handled over 9.1 million passengers in the first half of 2025. In November 2024, the Airports Council International Asia-Pacific and Middle East elected Al Midfa as a member of the board for a three-year term.
