Al-Awadhi assumed his current position at IATA in 2021. IATA represents approximately 350 airlines, which are responsible for more than 80% of worldwide air traffic. It also acts as the main trade association supporting aviation and shaping industry regulations. In December 2024, IATA opened a new office and training center in Abu Dhabi. Al-Awadhi previously served as CEO of Kuwait Airways.
