Al Shanfari was appointed CEO of the OCEC in 2018. The OCEC is Oman’s flagship venue for conferences, exhibitions, and large-scale events. In 2024, the OCEC welcomed 1.8 million visitors, a 38% increase compared to 2023. In 2025, it announced the launch of a solar panel project in partnership with TotalEnergies. Al Shanfari is also chairman of UFI for the Middle East and Africa, and a member of the board of directors of the Oman Tourism Association.
