Al Subaie was appointed Qatar’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change in January 2024. He also previously served in the same role between 2018 and 2021. He is responsible for implementing the national plan for climate change and ensuring its adherence to the strategic roadmap of Qatar. As of 2025, Qatar has 1,259 environmental sector clients, has made 12,493 environmental/custom inspections, and has 2,970 protected wildlife in natural reserves. In Q2 2025, the Department of Land Protection carried out 78 cleaning campaigns across Rawdas and wilderness areas.
