Al Dhaheri assumed her role in 2019. In July 2025, EAD launched an Abu Dhabi 2025 to 2050 climate adaptation plan to protect natural resources and biodiversity. In the same month, it announced the completion of 95% of the first phase of the Abu Dhabi Environmental Centennial 2071 Plan by the end of 2024. EAD has advanced the use of AI in reporting, habitat and species mapping, digital outreach, drone-enabled mangrove planting, and monitoring coral reefs, soil, fish, and aquaculture. Al Dhaheri also sits on the boards of Emirates Nature–WWF, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, and the governing board of the International Fund for Houbara Conservation.
