Rangoonwala assumed his current position in 2021, having first joined the company in 1996. Through the Africa Frontlines First program and other partnerships, J&J is aiding several African countries to strengthen community health systems, aiming to eventually offer mental healthcare services. In September 2025, it announced a $5 million expanded investment in Africa Frontline First Catalytic Fund which brings its total commitment to $20 million in support of 200,000 professional health workers. Rangoonwala is an executive committee member of PhRMA MEA and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations.
