Al-Khalifa joined QNB in 1996 and was appointed as the Group CEO in November 2018. In July 2025, QNB Group completed a $1 billion bond issuance under its Medium Term Note Programme in the international capital markets, attracting demand that reached three times the amount offered. In the first nine months of 2025, the group reported a profit of $3.6 billion and had total assets of $381.6 billion. Al-Khalifa also serves as Board Chairman of both QNB Geneva and QNB Capital and sits a board member of Ooredoo Qatar, Qatar Airways, and the Qatar Stock Exchange.
