Xiao joined and assumed his current position at G42 in 2018. Its affiliated companies include AIQ, Astra Tech, Khazna Data Centers, and M42, among others. In 2025, G42 launched Stargate U.A.E., an AI infrastructure cluster with OpenAI, NVIDIA, Oracle, SoftBank Group, and Cisco, to run in the 5GW U.A.E.–U.S. AI Campus in Abu Dhabi, and later introduced K2 Think with MBZUAI, an open-source AI reasoning system. In 2024, G42 secured a $1.5 billion investment from Microsoft. Xiao is the chairman of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and a member of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC) and MBZUAI’s board of trustees.
