Al-Thani assumed his current position in December 2022, having first joined the company as deputy CEO and chief strategy officer earlier that year. In 2025, QFZ signed an MoU with Spanish Marina Port Vell Barcelona to exchange maritime services and promote Qatar’s emerging superyacht industry. It signed an MoU with Dutch Feadship in the same year on a similar note, to explore collaborative opportunities within maintenance and development of superyacht infrastructure. Al-Thani is a founding member of the investment team at the Qatar Foundation Endowment Fund.
