Al-Khater assumed his current position in January 2026. In Q1 2026, QFC licensed over 800 new firms, up 57% year on year. In May 2026, QFC joined the Gulf Capital Market Association (GCMA) as an associate member to strengthen Qatar’s asset management ecosystem. In the same month, it also signed an MoU with Qatar’s Commercial Bank to streamline banking access for QFC-licensed firms and approved the launch of Qatar’s first-ever regulated REIT fund by HMK Capital. Al-Khater previously held senior leadership positions within Ooredoo Group, most recently serving as CEO of Ooredoo Tunisia.
