Al-Sowaidi joined QDB in 2015 before assuming his current duties in 2021. In November 2025, QDB launched Tamkeen, Qatar’s national funding gateway, bringing together banks and financial institutions into one financing platform, which supported 124 beneficiary companies in 2025. In 2026, QDB deployed a comprehensive private-sector crisis support package within 21 days from the start of regional disruption, approving over $65 million in strategic financing and expanding 100% guaranteed services-sector working capital programs. He is also the chairman at ELAN Group, Qatar Business Incubation Center, and Qatar Fintech Hub.
