Al Midfa joined SCTDA in 2011 and assumed his current role in 2014. He has led initiatives including the entity’s digital transformation strategy, the launch of an international hospitality classification model, sector development forums, and the development of Sharjah's youth hostels. SCTDA reported a 22% year-on-year rise in hotel guests in Sharjah, totaling over two million across 102 hotels in 2025, with total revenues of $212.4 million. In April 2026, SCTDA signed an MoU with American University (AUS) to boost tourism innovation and talent development, anchored by an annual hackathon at AUS. Al Midfa also heads the Sharjah Eid Al Etihad Celebrations Committee and is also a member of Sharjah Executive Council.
