Almoallim assumed his current position at RCU in 2023. RCU was founded in 2017 to preserve and develop AlUla as a destination of natural and cultural heritage. The county of AlUla is home to Hegra, Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site, inscribed in 2008. In 2025, AlUla received 318,917 local and international visitors. In January 2026, RCU announced the documentation and international publication of a rare 465-million-year-old, one of the oldest globally, horseshoe crab fossils discovered at Gharameel Nature Reserve in AlUla. The second phase of the research continues throughout 2026.
