Knippenberg assumed her current role in 2015. In January 2026, Kerten Hospitality signed 1,000 new keys in MEA and announced its second project in Morocco, Casadora Resort by Cloud 7 Hotels. In November 2025, Kerten Hospitality signed the Cloud 7 Al Murjan Island Resort in Saudi Arabia. Knippenberg is also an ambassador for the global Sustainable Hospitality Challenge student competition by Hotelschool The Hague and serves on the advisory board of the Sustainable Markets Initiative Committee for the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, and the board of Arabian Travel Market (ATM Dubai).
