Bin Daina was appointed Bahrain’s Special Envoy for Climate Affairs in 2021 and Minister of Oil and Environment in 2022. In 2025, the Supreme Council for Environment and UNDP adopted 23 national biodiversity targets for implementation between 2026 and 2031. By July 2026, Bahrain’s mangrove initiative had planted 2.23 million seedlings, with the Council among the agencies involved. The initiative forms part of Bahrain’s broader environmental efforts and contributes to its target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
