Founded by the late Mohamed Farid Khamis in 1979, the Oriental Weavers group is one of the world's largest carpet and rug manufacturers. It has manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and Egypt and exports its products to 118 countries. In 2024, the company recorded sales volumes of 43.2 million square meters in Egypt and 70.6 million square meters across international markets. In September 2024, Oriental Weavers signed an agreement with Integrated Renewable & Sustainable Communities to install a 2.5MWp solar power plant at Oriental Weavers International, the largest manufacturing facility in the group, with an investment of $1.5 million.
