In 2024, the Tadweer Group—an Abu Dhabi waste management authority and ADQ subsidiary—recovered 2.73 million tonnes of non-hazardous waste, reduced water consumption by 93.6%, and cut energy consumption by 6%. It also acquired Masdar’s share of the Sharjah Waste-to-Energy plant and became a partner in the Emirates Waste-to-Energy joint venture with BEEAH. In July 2025, it joined the United Nations Global Compact program and signed an MoU with the U.A.E.’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment as lead PRO to implement the country’s first extended producer responsibility scheme. Al Dhaheri has been in his current role since 2022.
