Sharbatly joined Desert Technologies in 2018 through the acquisition of his company Icons Shared Energy and assumed his current role in 2023. Desert Technologies operates in over 25 countries globally. In June 2025, Desert Technologies signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Genesis Energy at the 27th Africa Energy Forum to scale solar PV and battery storage systems across sub-Saharan Africa for over 600 million people lacking electricity. Sharbatly is also investment advisor at Al- Nahla Group, chairman of the National Entrepreneurship Committee under the Federation of Saudi Chambers, and a board member of the Jeddah Chamber.
