El Gouna’s solar infrastructure currently supplies nearly 20% of the town's energy needs through a 7.13 MWp plant, with an expansion underway that will bring total capacity to 15.8 MW. The city has seven sewage treatment plants, each producing up to 3,000 cubic meters of irrigation water. For transport, it promotes electric tuk-tuks, shuttle boats, and golf carts. Its recycling plant achieves 96% efficiency in processing various waste types. Amer joined El Gouna as CEO in May 2022 and became managing director at Orascom Development Egypt in June 2025.
