In 2024, SIRC, the PIF’s circular economy implementation arm, created Mostadam to oversee the management, treatment, and recycling of solid waste in Madinah as part of a long-term plan to establish eight dedicated waste streams by 2030. SIRC became an official member of the United Nations Global Compact in October 2024. It also acquired 35% of Waraq, a paper manufacturer with collection and recycling capabilities. AlShiha assumed his role at SIRC in 2021.
