Abou-Aly founded Pickalbatros Hotels & Resorts in 1992. As of June 2025, it operates 40 properties across Egypt and Morocco, with more than 18,000 rooms. In 2025, the group launched Albatros Makadi Resort in February, the Palais Des Roses Hotel Agadir in May, and is planning to open the SunGo Club Hotel in Marrakech in September 2025. Abou-Aly is also involved in film production and sports in Egypt. He is the president of the El Masry Football Club. He is also the president of the Red Sea Tourism Investment Association.
