Al-Fakhri has been in his current role since June 2020. The TDF was established in June 2020, with $4 billion in capital to drive tourism growth across Saudi Arabia. In November 2024, the fund signed eight financing agreements to enhance financing solutions for tourism-focused MSMEs. In July 2025, TDF launched three programs to empower tourism entrepreneurs and startups: the Grow Tourism Incubator, Tourism Hackathons & Bootcamps, and the Grow Tourism Accelerator. Al-Fakhri was previously an investment advisor to the tourism minister of Saudi Arabia.
