Alhashmi assumed his role in 2022 where he works to enhance Ajman’s appeal as a premier destination for tourism and commercial investments. In July 2026, the department appointed Hunan Overseas Travel as its official representative office in China. In May, it also signed a strategic partnership agreement with German-based DERTOUR Group to bring Ajman's tourism offering to European travelers. Alhashmi previously cofounded and led the Ajman Media City Free Zone from 2017 to 2022 and has directed the Ajman Free Zone. He is also a board member at Ajman Bank.
