Hazel assumed his current role in 2023. Apex Health operates nine hospitals across Qatar, Iraq, Libya, and Algeria, with over 4,000 beds and 20,000 staff. In August 2025, it secured an Investment License from Iraq’s National Investment Commission to build a 400-bed private hospital in Baghdad, featuring 16 ICU beds, 12 operating rooms, 80 outpatient clinics, and capacity for 600,000 outpatient visits annually. Hazel is also an advisory board member of the Arab Hospitals Federation and managing director of EWS.
