Dr. Azad built Aster from a single clinic in 1987 to over 927 facilities that currently serves more than 20 million people annually, while his daughter Alisha assumed her current position in November 2023, having first joined Aster DM Healthcare in 2012. In February 2025, Aster launched the myAster app in Saudi Arabia with AI-enabled Arabic voice response and introduced Trio, its flagship Riyadh pharmacy. This followed its 2024 commitment to invest $250 million for expansion of hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and digital health businesses in the Kingdom. In 2024, Alisha led the demerger of Aster into separate GCC and India entities, followed by the merger of Aster India with Quality Care India Ltd., creating one of India’s top three hospital chains.
