Darwazah’s father, Samih, founded Hikma in Jordan over 45 years ago and the company has since expanded across the MENA region, Europe,and North America. Darwazah joined Hikma in 1981 and has served as CEO between 2007–2018, and 2022–2023, before his current role as Executive Chairman. In April 2025, Hikma signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Austria-based pharma& to commercialize rucaparib, a treatment option for ovarian and prostate cancer, its first innovative small-molecule oral therapy in oncology, across MENA. In the first half of 2025, Hikma launched its first diagnostic product in MENA through its partnership with Guardant Health.
