At Forbes Middle East, we are dedicated to ensuring that we are ambassadors in the fight against climate change and that we play a significant role in raising awareness of sustainability issues, solutions, and best practices.

We make all efforts to be aware of our impact on the environment and take responsibility for reducing our carbon footprint. We believe that even the smallest actions are measurable and important positive steps towards a safer, greener future and a thriving, healthy planet. By prioritizing sustainability, we hope to make a meaningful difference within our organization and the wider community.

Some of our initiatives include:

• We ensure our monthly magazines are printed using recycled paper.
• We consider sustainability at our events, minimizing waste, conserving energy, and reducing paper and plastic usage.
• We integrate environmental concerns into our decision-making and activities, including minimizing waste and energy use.
• We have a dedicated “Sustainability Coordinator” whose role is to explore and propose new sustainability ideas and initiatives, coordinate with relevant teams and departments to ensure effective implementation, monitor and report on progress, and promote sustainability awareness and engagement among all company members.
• We encourage working from home, enabling us to maintain a minimal office presence and conserve energy usage. All lights, electricity outlets, and AC units are switched off when rooms are not in use.
• We urge all team members to be aware of how they are recycling waste, reusing materials, and reducing the amount of plastic, paper, and energy they use both in their professional and personal lives.
• We are always on the lookout for the latest updates in sustainability solutions, investments, and initiatives, and we make efforts to identify how we can promote them, either through our capacity as a regional organization or through our skills and the opportunities we can offer as journalists.

At our Healthcare Summit 2023, our sustainability initiatives included:

• Using digital solutions for guest registration, event signage, agenda details, and general communication.
• Using water dispensers and distributing reusable bottles.
• Using yoga mats made out of sustainable materials.
• Cooperating with sustainable local food suppliers and farms, including House of Pops, Bustanica, Amazonas4y, Hatta Honey, and Barakat Juices.
• Introducing a food court concept, where we strived to achieve zero waste by serving individual portions from live cooking stations upon request and using sustainable plates and cutlery.
• Collaborating with the Desert Group to use long-living plants as centerpieces and supporting the Enable social enterprise.
